Who are DJ Magic Cards?
We are a family-run small business that has been selling Magic Cards on-line since 2003.
Why don't I just buy from your eBay store?
First, you save money shopping at this site. Our prices on eBay are 15-25% higher than at this site. The prices are higher to recover the ever-increasing eBay fees.
Second, you want to help us have more free time with our family. For sellers, EBay is very time-consuming to use. Currently, about half our money comes from eBay, but about 80% of my time is spent managing the eBay listings. Managing this site is like a liberating breath of fresh air compared to using eBay.
Isn't shopping from eBay safer?
No. We process orders from this site and from eBay at the same time and in the same way. If anything, orders from here are safer because every once in a while there is an error with eBay's order notification system and an order goes unreported to me. That doesn't happen at this site.
It is true that eBay offers an incentive to provide good customer service through the feedback system. However, the incentive of earning positive feedback on eBay is very small compared to the incentive of earning repeat business. About 60% of purchases are from repeat buyers.
If anything goes wrong you have the same ability to file a PayPal complaint or credit card charge back on purchases from this site as you do on eBay purchases. While official complaints are available they are not necessary because all orders have insurance to provide refunds in the case of being lost or damaged. When are orders processed?
Orders are processed within 24 hours of payment. More specifically, orders are process every weekday at about 8:00 PM Pacific Time (California, USA). The weekday orders are mailed with the first morning pickup the next day. Orders are also processed at about 12:00 noon on Saturdays and mailed with the last Saturday pickup.
FedEx orders are given special attention. As long as the order is received before 3:00 PM Pacific Time it is usually shipped the same day.
You will receive a shipping confirmation email when your order has been processed
When will I get my cards?
First-class mail in the USA usually takes 2-5 days. Priority Mail in the USA takes 2-3 days. Transit time for First-class mail international varies. Normal is 1-2 weeks. Priority Mail International should take 6-10 days. Sometimes International mail is slower. For example, mail to Italy is often slow. Sometimes Italian mail arrives in as fast as other countries, other times it is delayed up to 8 weeks.
You will receive an email notifying you that your order has been shipped. Order status updates are not automatic and during unusually busy times order status updates may be delayed a day or two after your order has been shipped.
I am not in the USA. Will my cards be delayed in customs?
While we can not say for sure if your package will be delayed in customs or not we do the following to minimize the chance of delay:
1. The return address is not the business name, but rather our personal names (David & Judith Bal)
2. The prices are not printed on the enclosed packing slip (only card names and quantities)
3. Orders under 200 cards (under 36 to Italy) do not have a declared value or attached customs documentation.
What is the condition of the cards?
All the cards come from new booster packs and are not played. They are guaranteed to be in near mint condition (often mint). Occasionally, some cards contain manufacture defects or are slightly damaged in handling. If you are ever not satisfied please return them for a replacement or refund – your choice.
Will I get a tracking number (delivery confirmation)?
In order to provide the lowest shipping cost delivery confirmation is optional. The fee is $1.00 in the USA. That fee is more than the USPS $0.75 delivery confirmation fee because most orders need to be upgraded from the letter rate to the parcel rate. That change increases the postage.
International customers only can get a tracking number with Priority Mail, Express Mail, and FedEx. While all countries are supposed to track Priority Mail in reality few countries collect that information. The Priority Mail tracking number does seem to still be useful to identify a package when it appears to be lost. Some international customers have found their package in customs with the Priority Mail tracking number when it appeared to be lost. Express mail is usually tracked, but I seen instances when it was not. FedEx always provides a detailed and reliable tracking number.
I will include the tracking number, if there is one, with your shipping notification email.
Do I have to pay sales tax?
If your mailing address is in California you must pay 7.25% sales tax.
What if my cards never arrive?
Nearly every order arrives quick and safe, but if anything goes wrong every purchase has insurance that guarantees a refund in case of being lost or damaged. Click here for more information about how to file an insurance claim.

How many of any one card may I buy?
Normally, you can buy as many of one card as you want. However, sometimes I will limit the purchase of rare or uncommon cards to 4-8 cards per customer if the demand is very high or it has recently risen sharply in price and my price does not reflect that change. I rarely impose a limit, but if you want large numbers you may want to contact me before buying to insure I won’t place a limit.
